Gracia Festival: Take 2...
So we decided to give the festival another crack! We started to head there for the last night of the festival which is meant to be awesome.
We got out of the taxi 2 blocks from all the action as the roads were all blocked off.
On sunday when we were leaving the festival a beautiful building had caught our eye and again here we were standing out the front looking at it. We thought 'I wonder if it has a roof top bar', so we walked up to the concierge and asked . Yes madam it does. We looked at eachother and said, lets just go for one little drink then head to the festival.
We got to the top and Wow it was breathtaking! We popped ourselves down and order a glass of wine each and took in the view. Umm then we ordered another glass and another glass and then another glass till we had drunk a bottle or so and then 'Boom', off went all these fire flames in the distance and people cheering and that was it, the festival was over! Ooops....
Wouldn't change it though it was an amazing night.
The place we were at was now a 5 star hotel called Casa Fuster. The waiter told us that a married man from Ibiza had a mistress in Barcelona that he had had it built for back in 1907 and that is where he lived his second life with her.
No matter what the story it is magnificent and has one of the best views in town!
Oh we also may of stopped off at a kids amusement park along the way! All the rides were miniature so all I got a crack of was the skill tester. I have no skill !!!!!
The lovely Miss Suzy.

Gracia Festival...
So, we heard one of the most amazing and funnest festivals of the year is on in Barcelona in the Gracia region called, well, the Gracia Festival. The streets of Gracia are closed down for a week and each street competes for the best decorated street all with different themes.
During the week there is heaps of different events on and MASSIVE street parties that go all night long, it's packed and hectic! So we hear..
So on sunday afternoon we got some time off and thought we would head down and check it all out. I had heard that that day they were doing the 'Human Pyramid' which I have always wanted to see so took off camera in hand excited to get into the festive spirit.
When we got there it was more like a ghost town and we had missed the human pyramid. There were just a handful of people drinking and walking the streets. This was good in one way to be able to check out how the streets were all decorated. It was pretty cool actually. Apparently everyone goes pretty hard at night then crashes during the day to go hard again the next night.
So we spent a couple of hours walking around and checking it all out.
We eventually got hungry and decided to start walking our way home and get something along the way.
We saw a sign out the front of a restaurant that said NON STOP FOOD, BINGO! So we sat down and asked for a menu and he said sorry but we dont do food at this time. Ok Then...............
We just had a drink then jumped in a cab and went where else but our favourite burger joint, they never let us down!
Back to our old faithful for burgers and cocktails. They taste just as good as they look!
One burger and about 8 cocktails or so later my friend Suzy and I rolled ourselves home. Lucky we only live about 100 metres from there.
Oh and when i got home and checked the news it showed the the festival an hour before we got there, hundreds of people in the streets to watch the human pyramid. It showed a failed attempt of them all come crashing down but thankful no one was hurt.

A Magic Fountain...
We had been told by a few people about this huge fountain that is choreographed with lights, music and movement, so thought we would go and check it out.
We were expecting a beautiful big colourful fountain but not the huge crowd of thousands of people that come to watch it each night! Literally THOUSANDS! There are crowds half a kilometre down the road and on top of bridges to watch this thing!

My Favourite thing To Do In Barcelona....
My absolute favourite thing to do in Barcelona is to hit the tiny little streets and explore whats down each one of them with my camera in hand.
There's a new photo opportunity around every corner. Even the graffiti is awesome.
Down each street are unique little shops that are art within themselves and are worthy of photographic moments.
We spend from morning till night walking around taking photo's, looking in shops, admiring art , buildings and people. We stop for lunch, then stop again for a few afternoon beverages and before we know it its time to find yet another, amazing little restaurant to have dinner, drink good wine and talk about the things we had seen and done that day.
The beauty and excitement doesn't stop until we are home and have pulled down the blinds and fallen asleep. Even the view out of our cabin window is ridiculous!
Reading this back it all sounds so corny but it's exactly how it is and makes me feel.
Im already having withdrawels from this city and we haven't even left yet!
